Good Morning Lovelies! Today is the beginning of a new month & with it a new opportunity for change (are you getting sick of me saying that yet? hehe). Starting today I’m doing the 100 Squats A Day April Challenge & here’s my first video. My form isn’t great, especially near the end, but I’m a work in progress. ;)

Now I’m off to stretch these jelly-legs out so tomorrow doesn’t kill me! ;)

I want to log 100 kilometers this week.

Sounds scarier than it is, I hope. I have been a little sloppy with getting enough cardio in over the summer - okay, I admit it - very sloppy. So, as we say goodbye to the lazy days of August, I want to challenge myself to a weekly kilometer race! I chose the number 100 quite randomly, but I figure I’ll do most of it on the bike and a few kms here and there walking and running with the dog. Just can’t let myself get behind a day.
I’m sure I’ll end up doing more yoga this week as well to stretch out my out-of-shape muscles. This week is going to be just what I need! I haven’t given myself a push like this is too long, so I’m hoping I not only reach my goal, but get a few extra kilometers in there for good measure!
Today I logged 15 kilometers. Not a bad start, but I’m definitely going to aim higher tomorrow! The poor pup was soo exhausted from his adventuring at the lake this weekend that he slept all day long and didn’t even want to go for a walk! Tomorrow he should be back to his usual self and help me knock off 4 or 5 kms too! Good night all! Think healthy thoughts! ;)

This past week one of my good friends mentioned to me that she was struggling with her weight and after hearing me talk at length about the magic of raw food, she decided to give it a shot and eat mostly raw for a week. Inspired to up the ante in my own diet, again, I decided to join her. For those of you who know me, you know that I am quite passionate about raw foods. Though, to be honest, the longest I have stuck 100% to a raw diet is only 30 days. Not long at all considering the time it takes for real change to take place in the human body (if it takes seven years to generate new cells throughout your entire body, 30 days isn’t going to have much of an effect - overall). But I keep reminding myself that even little steps in the right direction are better than none at all. ;)
Luckily, the timing of my renewed motivation coincides quite nicely with The Banana Girl Diet Challenge happening on Facebook. There are now over 1,100 members and many fruities who are very experienced on the raw vegan / high-carb raw-vegan / 80/10/10 diet. If you are at all interested in learning more about raw food, you should come check it out and join!
Also, starting this afternoon The Brilliant Body Summit begins! It’s a series of telecasts done by poignant members of the raw vegan movement (starting with author of The 80/10/10 Diet - Dr Doug Graham)! This is a rare chance to hear from the pro’s and ask your own questions, so once again, I highly recommend you take a peek! ;)
I’m off to start the day on the healthy foot and have bananas for breakfast! Happy & Healthy Tuesday Everybody! :)

10 Day Crunch Challenge

The first couple of days were easy. Once I got to day 4/5 it began to get tough. I’m on day 7 now and already my abs are angry with me. I’m actually proud that I’ve been sticking to it though. There were so many chances where I could have easily given up or said to hell with the last 100, 200 whatever. I think by the end of the 10 days I’ll be sure as hell ready for a break from ab work for a couple days though. ;)

Day 1 - 100/100
Day 2 - 200/200
Day 3 - 300/300
Day 4 - 400/400
Day 5 - 500/500
Day 6 - 600/600
Day 7 - 100/700*so far*

10 Day Crunch Challenge

Today I was just chillin’, doing my usual 100 crunches and I got to thinking… How hard would it be to do 1,000 crunches in a day?

To see what this idea would be like, I am on a mission and starting a new challenge for myself that’s going to go something like this: increase the number of crunches I do each day by 100 (so 200 tomorrow since I already did ‘em today) for ten days until I do 1,000. Naturally I’m not going to do them all in one go, I will spread them out throughout the day and keep track. I think it will be an interesting experience if nothing else. :)

I’ll let ya know how it goes!

Good Morning World!

Just got back from a gorgeous morning run. Went 4.8km in 30:06. (I’m on dailymile if anyone wants to be running buddies ;p. My username is: abbygetsfit) The weather was absolutely beautiful, not a cloud in the sky, hot sun beating down… Perfect… for a walk! Running on the other hand… Was a challenge.

Usually the weather around here isn’t quite a humid as it’s been recently. I’m used to running in the rain more than in the heat. So today was my first summer test from Mother Nature herself. She tossed some wicked sunshine and humidity at me and I fought back with perseverance and determination! No amount of sweat can slow me down! Turned out to be a run I can feel proud of.

Also, I swallowed a bug.

Happy Wednesday Everybody! :)
